The Crestview FFA chapter competed in soils judging at Fackler’s farm on September 14. Crestview along with Clearfork, Shelby, Lucas, and Plymouth’s FFA chapters all met at Fackler’s farm. Crestview FFA chapter had a total of 21 members partake in the competition and came in first place for both urban and rural soils. On Thursday, September 28 the chapter competed in district soils among various other schools. Crestview placed in fourth overall for both urban and rural soils, moving the chapter on to state.
The rural team that went to state consisted of: Mason Maust, Kenzie Workman, Sierra Schaffer and Sierra May. The rural team placed 19th out of 46 teams. The urban team, consisting of: Kathy Lehman, Brynn Witmer, Erin Bernhard and Kaitlyn Hunt, placed 4th at state and are moving on to nationals.
FFA National Convention
This year on October 25-27, the Crestview FFA attended the National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. On the way down to Indianapolis the chapter stopped at Shroyers Club Lambs and Umbarger Show Feeds. The members were taken on a tour throughout the facilities and taught about the companies. In Indianapolis members were given an opportunity to visit the National Expo and as well as sessions at National Convention. This year the Crestview FFA is proud to announce that two of the members received their American degrees. The American degree is the highest degree a member can attain that only 2% of chapters receive. This year at the 2017 National Convention Jenna Purvis and Kelcie Chance were presented their American degrees.
