The 2017-18 school year has been very exciting so far! In conjunction with the Warren County Educational Service Center, the Crestview Local School District opened a preschool this year! The purpose of the preschool is to provide an enriched learning environment in an integrated setting to children ages 3-5. This includes both typically developing children and children with disabilities. Located at Crestview Elementary classes are in held Tuesday-Friday and follow Crestview LSD calendar. Half-day sessions are offered either in the morning or afternoon. Current preschool enrollment includes 12 morning students and 11 afternoon students, we are continually adding students (each session can accommodate up to 16 students).

Because children learn best through play, preschool learning takes place in a play-based environment. The preschool curriculum is based on the Early Learning Standards for Ohio so that students will be prepared for kindergarten standards. Preschool activities include student-initiated and teacher-initiated activities that focus on the development of pre-academic, fine motor, gross motor, social/emotional, and language skills. There is a weekly focus on letters, colors, shapes, and numbers. The children have regular opportunities to practice drawing simple shapes, writing the letters of their names, and writing the letter of the week. The children have enjoyed playing on the newly constructed preschool equipment recently purchased through a joint effort from Crestview Parents Club and Crestview Board of Education.

For children interested in attending Crestview’s preschool, applications are available through the board office and on the District website: www.crestviewschools.net, click on “Enrollment”. Open screenings will be held in March and May of 2018. Speech, occupational, and physical therapy services are provided during preschool hours to qualifying students.
